Adventure in Plastic by John

Banking isn’t all that keeps David De Rothschild busy. He’s building a plastic boat. He and six crew will sail a catamaran with hulls made of discarded soda bottles from San Francisco to Sydney sometime in May. De Rothschild read a 2006 UN study that said there are likely 46,000 pieces of plastic floating for every square mile of ocean. That said, I have read many of these reports like the Ocean Conservancy’s and have also sailed a few miles; 46,000 seems like an awful lot to be “floating”, but sail a little and you’ll see that something needs to be done.
